The #OurDemocracy campaign is a nation-wide movement of people and organisations who want a healthy Australian democracy which works for us, not just for the powerful few.
The Australian Democracy Network together with the Australian Conservation Foundation and the Human Rights Law Centre were looking to develop an identity for their campaign to build a fairer democracy. The campaign would seek to reduce the influence of corporations across our democracy.
This identity would be supported by clear and detailed guidelines for partners to use in-house to create a consistent public profile.
The campaign’s shared purpose and call to rally behind a fairer democracy is represented by a simple wordmark locked up with a hashtag. Synonymous with social media, the hashtag acts to amplify the voice of the campaign.
Taking into account the desire for a bold and simple brand identity, a high contrast colour palette creates impact and offers variety in the visual expression of the brand across all communications. Typography plays a central role to the brand, paired with the contrasting blocks of colour to communicate the message clearly and loudly.
An accessible campaign website was designed as a key form of communication to provide information about the campaign and how to get involved. We designed a series of posters and social graphics to support the campaign, utilising the contrasting colour palette and design system to create maximum visual impact.
A brand guideline provided the client with a clear way to roll out further communications consistently in market.
